Pair Tank Chairs 400 by Alvar Aalto for Artek. Gunnar Aagaard Andersen Fabric.
Pair of Alvar Aalto 400 "Tank" lounge chairs, manufactured by Artek upholstered in Letters fabric designed by Gunnar Aagaard Andersen. These chairs appear unused. No signs of wear to the fabric. There may be light scratches on the base, but those can only be seen upon very close inspection. Beautiful pair of chairs. Wonderful condition and very comfortable. Signed. We also have a listing for the same chair as a single.
The Tank chair was designed in 1936 and got its nickname from the wide profile that implemented the pioneering use of bentwood lamination techniques. The frame and armrests are crafted from a single piece of cantilevered, laminated birch plywood that loops around to form the base.
These are 2005 authentic licensed production. The price is for the set of two chairs.
